Friday 1st May

Build a Funky Den, and send us a photo

Dens will need to be built before we open camp at 5:30pm

Dens can be built either inside or outside, but remember you will need to sleep in it. Make it as fun and funky as possible, use what ever you like to build it.

If you build it yourself and it stays up that is a problem solving task completed

Some ideas below of what to use

  • Chairs and tables are one quick way of building a structure.
  • Blankets or sheets
  • Bamboo canes, broom handles, tent poles
  • Outside play equipment
  • String and rope
  • Bright materials can help you turn your den into a palace, fancy restaurant or castle.
  • If you want to use your dens in the rain you’ll need waterproof material, such as plastic dust sheets or tarpaulin. Leaves are also good for this, but you’ll need loads if you don’t want it to leak.

Saturday 2nd May

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 6 ounces chocolate, chopped into pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (don’t worry if you can’t get it)
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Chocolate Buttons
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Cooling rack
  • Baking tray
  • Whisk
  • 2 bowls

Bear Paw Biscuits

Ingredients needed and things you’ll need to make them (will need adult help)

Instructions:

  1. Using the Saucepan, (adult help) melt the butter and chocolate, low heat, and keep stirring, we don’t want it to burn. Once done, remove from heat, and leave to cool a little
  1. Into one of the bowls, add the flour, baking powder and salt and whisk
  1. Into the second bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract and melted chocolate, we need to whisk this really fast so we can get lots of air bubbles into it.
  1. Now mix both bowls together, once it’s done it will be nice and fluffy.
  1. Cover bowl and place in the fridge for an hour or so
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. (Adult Help)
  1. Get a spoon of the dough and roll into a ball, then shape out into a paw, use a knife (adult help) to put 4 indents where the claws will go.
  1. Place all the paws onto the greased baking tray
  1. Pop in the oven and bake for about 8 to 10 minutes (adult help)
  1. Cut buttons in half and push into indents in the paws for claws
  1. Allow to Cool.
  1. Enjoy them

Take a photo and Post it to us

Can you throw them over your shoulder
Like a continental soldier
Do your ears hang low

Tell me ’bout your legs

Do they get you where you’re goin’
Are they fast or are they slowin’
Tell me ’bout your legs

Have you got a tail
That is pretty or is plain
Is it curly or straight
Have you given it a name
Is it short or is it long
Is it weak or maybe strong
Have you got a tail

Do your ears hang high
Do they stand up in the sky
Do they drop down when they’re wet
Do they stand up when they’re dry
Do you wave them to your neighbor
With a minimum of labor
Do your ears hang high
Do you wave them to your neighbor
With a minimum of labor

Make New Friends

Make new friends, but keep the old.
One is silver, the other is gold.

A circle is round, it has no end.
That’s how long, I will be your friend.

A fire burns bright, it warms the heart.
We’ve been friends, from the very start.

You have one hand, I have the other.
Put them together, we have each other.

Silver is precious, gold is too.
I am precious, and so are you.

You help me and I’ll help you
and together we will see it through.

The sky is blue. The Earth is green
I can help to keep it clean

Across the land, Across the sea
Friends forever we will always be
